Mariano Rodriguez Description

Autodidact artsit born in Havana in 1912. His first exhibition opened at the Lyceum of Havana, in 1942 and in New York, in 1945. His works are in the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art, in New York; the San Francisco Museum; the Institute of Arts, in Chicago; the Modern Art, in Paris; the Art Gallery, Stockholm; Bienal Americana, in Mexico; Bellas Artes, Argentina. In the 1940's Rodriguez started working on roosters (gallos) as a subject matter, which made him famous.
